ns was working on defenses because that my artificial town (that I developed by myself and got part villagers), the defences contained iron doors (in front of the wooden doors) that closes during night, or deserve to be manually closed during raids. But villagers, as soon as they walk in or out v an open iron door, they close it behind, regardless of having the door it is provided by a redstone signal.

This requirements fix a quick as feasible because the is destroying the defence.

You should have the ability to avoid this trouble as follows: automatically outside the door, create a brief corridor along the wall that the door is installed in. The corridor have to be at the very least 3 block long and also can extend in either direction, or both direction if friend like. On each block within the corridor, place a button. Make sure that once the door is open, every floor block that can be checked out from a villager"s perspective has a button on it. The following screenshots present what ns mean:

The factor this functions is the villagers can not pathfind end or v a block with a switch in it. What"s keep going is that when a player opens up an stole door, surrounding villagers can see surface blocks outside the door. If a villager is looking at the player (which they do all the time, come signal your willingness come trade once they"re nearby by) and happens to additionally be trying to find somewhere come wander to, there"s a high probability that will choose a block exterior the door as its target. When that happens, it will begin pathfinding towards that block, and it will open and close any kind of doors it encounters ~ above the way. (The bug is that it shouldn"t have the ability to open one iron door, but opening wooden doors is to plan behavior.) however a villager can"t target a block through a button on it, so this an approach ensures it never chooses a target block external the door. In fact, girlfriend wouldn"t also need the door any kind of more, except that overfilled villagers have the right to nudge each other onto a block through a switch in it, and also they might eventually escape that way or become stuck there.
